Chesapeake Bay is an amazing place for plants and animals to live and thrive in an environment. But, lately, the Chesapeake Bay has had some trouble with the health of the Bay. Furthermore, it has interconnected habitats and living things like this are called ecosystems. Ecosystems help the Chesapeake Bay become a stable, healthier environment. The Chesapeake Bay is also a very large ecosystem and helps benefit many organisms that live in the bay, such as plants and animals. The Chesapeake Bay is a very large ecosystem because the Chesapeake Bay is a watershed and a home for more than 2,700 plants and animals. Adding on to that piece of information, the bay is also made up of many different environments. Humans can cause effects on the Chesapeake Bay, such as producing electricity, and diverting water for human uses. According to the text it states that "Each action, be it turning on a faucet, paving a road, or cutting down a tree, represents a change in the natural balance of the Bay's ecosystem." This evidence supports my claim about human activity by stating that these examples are the reasons human activity can affect or what type of things humans do that can affect the Bay and what contributes to helping or destroying the Chesapeake Bay. Another activity that humans do to affect the Bay is that urban and suburban development has contributed sediment to the Bay. Evidence that supports this claim in the text is that "As land development has occurred, soil has contributed to wash into the Bay and its rivers, covering up oysters and fish spawning areas." This evidence is helpful to this topic that human activity has affected the Bay's health because it develops how human activity can affect the Bay through land
