Chesapeake Bay Research Paper

If we do not help save Chesapeake Bay, we will not have it for much longer. Chesapeake Bay needs to be repaired. Chesapeake Bay is being affected by human activity, there is a particularly crucial importance for restoring the Bay's health, and we need to implement action plans or steps that could be taken to restore the health of the Bay. These things need to stop now before it is too late. To start off, there is human activity that is affecting the bay's health. For this reason, non-point source solutions are a big problem. Non-point source pollutants are runoff that does not come from identifiable places. There are so many ways to stop these non-point source pollutants. People's waste is diluting the water. The more diluted the water, the worse it is for the habitat living in or around Chesapeake Bay. Source, The Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem, states, "Waste from people's homes, stores, and discharged into the Bay and its rivers." Waste from people's homes, stores, and discharges are all causing disruptions to the ecosystem. All this discharge of items or substances harms the Bay. Point-source pollutants are easier to act on than non-point source pollutants. We must act with point and non-point source pollutants before it is too late to save the bay. Secondly, there is a very crucial importance in restoring the Bay’s health. One huge reason for the Bay to be restored is that animals are going extinct. These animals are going extinct and can ruin the ecosystem's food chains. Source one states, “Today, elk, wolves, and cougars are going extinct in Maryland... Source two, Saving the Blue Crab, states, “Algae can also coat the leaves of the Sav... Sav (submerged aquatic vegetation) are especially important to blue crabs because they provide food, shelter, and nursery areas.” The algae coating the SAV makes it hard for the plant to achieve light. When the SAV (submerged aquatic vegetation) cannot get light, then they will die. If these plants die out, the blue crabs will start having a lower population, which results in a domino effect with the other animals. This Bay provides many jobs for working people, without this bay, horrible things are going to happen. The graph provided by Source 5 shows that this algae covering the SAV is affecting the total population of Blue Crabs. Last but not least, we need to implement actions or plans that could be taken to restore the health of the Bay. Some things we need to incorporate are programs that help clean the bay, are programs that help clean.
